help with installing osgeo4w

Dear all,

I am struggling with finding a solution to install osgeo4w from the site
(trac.osgeo;org/osgeo4w).
Clicking on 64bit Windows install -> Express install -> Next, I always get
the error "unable to get setup.ini from http://download.osgeo.org/osgeo4w".
Internet connection is working fine and firewall is disabled ...

Has anyone experienced a similar problem ?
I'd be very happy to get some help if someone has found a solution yet.

Hi,

This question belongs to osgeo4w. but anyway seems like you are having a
proxy problem. Select "Advanced" setup option and add your proxy settings
if any.

If that doesnt solve. please feel free to ask on osgeo4w list.

Hi.

For me, works with the proxy activated, you can activate the proxy with
step back in the same screen when the error came out, only you need is back
the install and select the proxy default IE5.

I think this is because the 64 bit windows. I met the same problem
initially. But when I tried to install OSGeo4W on a 32 bit windows system.
there is no problem totally!

so, the most easy solution is, try to find a 32 bit windows system.
